Created in April 2020 during the early days of the pandemic shutdown, the AZ Sketchbook Series emerged as a way to stay creative and connected amidst uncertainty. Inspired by a YouTube challenge from Teoh Yi Chie (@parkablogs) to find “AZ ways to fill a sketchbook,” this series provided both structure and a sense of community with artists worldwide.

Using watercolor, the most accessible material at the time, I approached these pages with a spirit of exploration—choosing lighthearted subjects and themes that sparked curiosity. This series also holds personal significance as it marked the first time I painted a koi fish, a subject that would later evolve into my Breached series about a year later.

Beyond the sketches themselves, this project became a testament to the power of art to create routine, resilience and connection during a time of isolation.
